Writing a todo app is a right of passage

Todo apps proliferate. They seem to be highly personal and no one solution fits all. They’re also a pretty easy introduction to programming so there is a lot of them out there (without getting in to the paper based systems).
For me, a hybrid solution works best1: regular reminders are best scheduled so I don’t forget, but stuff that I need to get done is reinforced better by writing it out repeatedly, for others “copying over commitments [they’ve] already recorded [seems] labor-intensive, and assigning a time to every item [makes] the plan feel rigid”2.
Personally I think the friction is the point, but if you too find it makes actually getting stuff done harder Nagare — 流 might help.

I’ve written about this before: Bullet Journaling Saved my Todo List everything I wrote then still holds, though I’m only intermittently consistent with my bullet journalling ↩︎
