No one goes to your website for the UX
5/9/26
Again for those who weren’t paying attention: no one goes to your website for the ux. They go there to do a job, to find information. This is “olds” and yet needs constant restating: All my clients wanted a carousel, now it’s an AI chatbot
Most of the stuff a bespoke AI chatbot can do (find the opening times, tell you the price of a product, find the customer service email address) can be done just as easily with an LLM that has internet access. Get it to find you a link then check it’s accurate. Job done.
If possible this kind of simple search should be done using a less energy intensive method such as a search engine though increasingly those feel the need to offer you a summary as well as the information you asked for. Your map app of choice may be the best solution for opening hours and contact details. But, given how cluttered with irrelevance a lot of websites are, an LLM isn’t a horrible solution, and will likely be a whole lot less frustrating than that chatbot bubble.
